Warrent of apprehension: Ville Valo

Which typical or also personal sign do you like in yourself best?
In both cases my impatience. It lets me work very hard, but it also makes me behave
like a real asshole.

What are the three most important things in your life?
Work, work, work. I didn’t do anything else for such a long time, than working on my
music that work is really the most important thing in my life. Sometimes earlier I
would maybe have answered this question with "sleep, health and Black Sabbath".

What makes you really angry?
I try to avoid getting angry. Intolerance drives mad me - then, nevertheless, it’s
me getting intolerant again because I let others make me angry. Anger is a waste of
energy.

What makes you laugh?
Everything. Our world is a such mad place that you can only laugh at it and at
yourself.

What makes you cry?
Sleeping denial. And onion peeling.

What is the first thing you do after getting up in the morning?
Getting up, creeping around a little, making coffee and lighting cigarette. At home I
usually sleep in my clothes, so that I‘m immediately ready for everything.

To whom would you like to be related?
Jesus. That would be a good family tree.

In whose skin would you like to slip in for a month?
Marilyn Manson.

What’s your favourite movie?
Dirty Harry or Twin Peaks.

Who was your idol when you were a kid?
My dad, Gene Simmons, Clint Eastwood, Groucho Marx.

What’s your favourite book?
At the moment it’s The Gospel of Filth by Dani Filth and Gavin Baddeley. An
incredibly informative and smart presentation.

What was the funniest or strangest job which you have ever exercised?
Until now the only jobs of my life were singer in a rock band and sales assistant in
a sex shop. Both are probably not too normal...

Which person do you never want to run into?
Myself.

What did you do with the first money you ever earned?
After my very first gig as a bass player, I bought beer and a bus ticket.
The first money I earned with HIM, I was investing in the keyboard on which I wrote
Join me afterwards.

What should be your last meal?
Myself. Eventually my legs, who knows. It has to be something that doesn’t kill me,
so that I can enjoy it. Of course raw. Cannibalism is a very interesting thought.

What is/was your worst pick-up line?
Probably I said the wrong name. You tell so much clumsy stuff when you really like
someone …

What do you appreciate the most on a person from the opposite gender?
The voice.

What was your most painful experience so far?
The death of my dog. What’s concerning physical pain, I can tell that I got injured
several times when I was skateboarding.

When and from whom did you get your first love letter?
Someday at school. As it was always the case, it came from the wrong girl.

What do you prefer most on sex?
The fact that preservatives exist.

For what would you overdraw your bank account?
For my family. And for a magic lantern.

When have you been embarrassed or been blushing for the last time?
Only today. The lady at the hotel reception had been tremendously nice to me and told
me in the most kind way, that she really loves our music.

What would you always want to do, but never got the courage for?
To go for a swim. I have considerable respect for water. Or, during the last years:
drinking a beer.

Where and how do you relax best?
On my couch at home or at the tourbus after a gig.

What’s your favourite city?
One, where I wasn’t before. Addis Abeba for example.

Do you have a piece of jewelry that means a lot to you?
A crucifix which I got from my grandmother.

On what historical event do you want to be present?
Big Bang. Or the creation of Eve from Adam's rib.

What would you do if you knew that tomorrow the world would set?
Listening to Black Sabbath and hang around with my family.

Have you already been close to death once? Where and in what sense?
Before I went to rehab, my doctors warned me about getting a heart failure soon, if
I didn’t stop drinking. They immediately wanted to send me to the emergency room, but I
declined, telling them I have another interview to do.
It definitely was pretty near.

What should be written on your gravestone?
“Ozzy Osbourne”.
